Does anybody here make any money or know someone who is able to make money with this company? It is a 'health discount' company. It offers discounts to people who have little or no insurance. You can also make money by signing up other people to sell the plan. People inside the company claim that many make $100,000 in 2-4 years. But I'm sceptical, plus I really don't know squat about the insurance biz. Any thought, comments appreciated. Thanks.

About a year ago I looked into about a half dozen of those health and dental plans that are supposed to reduce your costs. Many of them seemed to be from well known companies too.

They all had my dentist and doctor listed but when I called to check my Dr's office NONE of them ever heard of these plans and never signed up for them. It seems many people have this same problem and many lawsuits have been filed.

Every plan I checked had virtually evey dentist in my area listed but after calling over 10 dentists not one of them accepted the supposed insurance or even heard of them.

The dentist I wanted to go to told me not to bother with so called reduced plans because if you have to pay cash they will charge you the lowest allowable amount that an insurance would pay anyway.

I am not saying you can't make money trying to sell people this insurance but you might want to check if they really have any doctors who "really" accept it first.

I joined not long ago, and the number of dentists in my city took up 8 pages. They've been around for 16 years, have over 30,000 dentists in the plan and over 350,000 doctors, so I think anybody who says they're not widely accepted doesn't know what they're talking about. It is NOT insurance, btw. Here are some of the typical savings:

Established Patient for a Limited Visit to a doctor's office is shown as being "up to" (admittedly a slippery phrase if there ever was one) $80. My doctor charges $65, so that's a little high, but in the ballpark. An Ameriplan doctor charges $40.

Lab Fees, Lipid Panel (Cholestterol, HDL, LDL, Trig) is shown as typical being $88, and Ameriplan charges $11. I'll take 88% savings for "non-insurance" all day long.

You can get Dental, Vision, Chiro, and prescription drugs by themselves, or add medical to the mix, not to mention Road Side Service and a Prepaid Legal Service, from $19.95 (for the entire household, including non-relatives) to $59.95. AGI is the largest insurance company in the world, and they're getting into discounted medical benefits, what does that tell you?
